Asia World Indonesia presents a 7D/6N Komodo Island Cruise on LAMIMA, a 5-star luxury wooden Phinisi yacht charter. This cruise is ideal for families, adventurers and marine-live lovers. Komodo Island and the surrounding areas are world famous for diving because of the nutrients exchanged between the Flores Sea, in the north, and the Indian Ocean, in the south. Everything can be found here from large pelagic fish, dolphins and whales to tiny critters.

This is also home to the Komodo dragons or ̳Ora‘, which are the largest living lizards on earth and found only on Komodo, Rinca, and western Flores islands. An average adult can measure up to three meters long and weigh 136 kilograms but despite its size, it can move quickly on the ground and is an agile swimmer and climber.

Itinerary

Day 1Labuhan Bajo – Sangeang island (L/D)

Upon your arrival at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo, you will be greeted and transferred by a personal guide to board the Lamima. Once on-board and settled in, we will then depart the harbor for a 5-hours crossing to Sangeang Island.

The island of Sangeang is located 45 kilometers east of Bima and is a small and active volcanic is-land where lava ridges running down its rather steep green sides can be seen. Clear waters and good soft and hard corals and anemones can be seen here.

Most regular marine fishes can be found at this dive site along with ribbon eels, cowries and underwater spiders. The currents at Mentjeng Wall can be savage due to its exposed position, but there are plenty of sheltered places to hide. The base of the wall is a macro heaven at around 20 meters where countless Nudibranchs and hairy critters can be found.

Enjoy your lunch and dinner on-board.

Overnight on-board the LAMIMA

Day 2Sangeang island - Gili Banta (B/L/D)

Breakfast is served on board as we disembark to visit Bonto Village to see the simple life of the local people. With a population of only 150 people, Bonto is an oceanfront village on Sangeang Island which is one of the tiny islands in the Flores Sea.

Enjoy your gourmet lunch on-board the vessel while spending your day swimming and snorkeling.

Afterwards, we will take a two hour cruise to Gili Banta, just at the border of the Komodo National Park. Banta is one of the most beautiful places to visit as it is an uninhabited island with white sandy beaches and a very vast area for coral growth and is home to an abundance of fishes.

In the evening, enjoy your dinner on-board.

Day 3Gili Banta - Gili Lawa laut - Gili Lawa Darat (B/L/D)

Enjoy the day with water sport activities, swimming, snorkeling and diving at Gili Banta. Here, you can see Cuttlefish, spine cheek Anemone fish, Manta ray, mating Dogtooth Tuna, spiny Porcelain Crabs, Wally‘s hairy crab, Orangutan Crab, Pygmy Sea-horses, spawning two-toned Wrasse among other species.

Then sail on a 3-hour crossing to Gili Lawa Laut, which is the northern-most of two islands off the north eastern tip of Komodo Island. There are several dive sites around the island and the bays on the north and south sides are a common overnight mooring place.

Kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, diving or sipping a fresh juice at the beach will be the choices avail-able to you.

In the late afternoon, you will enjoy the beautiful sunset among the islands with a hike to the summit of Gili Lawa for the best views.

Your dinner will be served while enjoying the peaceful night as we sail to Gili Lawa Darat. This island is located in the northern end of the Komodo National Park. It is a grass covered savanna island, perfect for a dive or snorkel, with plenty of time to explore the reefs and beaches.

Day 4Gili Lawa Darat - Manta Ray - Komodo Island (B/L/D)

Breakfast will be served on-board the vessel. Enjoy the day with water sports, swimming, snorkeling and diving in the passage. The highlight is the variety of soft and hard corals with schools of fish feeding in the channel. Sometimes we can even see Turtles, Manta rays and Reef Sharks.

Lunch is served onboard while we sail approximately one hour to Manta Point for swimming and diving. Manta rays are often seen in “cleaning stations” near the reef where they let cleaner wrasse remove small parasites and gill cavities. These animals are not bothered by human presence and they might approach and solicit attention from divers enjoying the bubbles created from the scuba tanks.

Afterwards we will set sail for approximately one hour to Komodo Island. It is one of the 17,508 islands in the Indonesian archipelago and is known for the Komodo National Park. This island is also a popular destination for diving and trekking. Komodo is located between the islands of Sumbawa in the west and Flores in the east.

In the evening, enjoy your dinner on-board.

Escorted by the crew and experienced park rangers, you will get to learn, from their profound knowledge, about the Komodo, the fauna and flora of the area.

Later in the morning, we will head back to the Lamima for breakfast and set sail to the world-famous Pink Beach, where you can snorkel, dive and canoe in the tropical waters or just relax on this exceptional beach.

The Pink Beach is one of the seven beaches in the world that has the mixture of white and red sand, formed from pieces of Foraminifera and red coral sand that created this natural phenomenon. At noon, go on a dive with the dive master where you can see incredible variety of fishes and corals. The dive spot is quite easy, with no strong currents and picture perfect for underwater photography. This area is also great for snorkeling and kayaking or just lounging on the beach.

Back to the vessel we then set sail for approximately one hour to Mesa Island. It is a small island situated between Flores and Komodo, approximately 15 km from Labuan Bajo. Mesa Island is home to a village of traditional fishermen known as Bajau. They are a tribe famous for their unrivaled abilities in mastering waves and the deep sea thus earning the title of being Sea Gypsies. The people now living on the island are the descendants of sailors who sailed the ocean stretching a thousand kilometers away to the south of their homeland, Sulawesi. Navigating Phinisi boats by reading the sky and stars, the Bajau ancestors went on to conquer the rough ocean between Sulawesi and Flo-res.

Lunch will be served on-board, while sailing to Seture Island for cocktails and a beach BBQ.
